Liatris pycnostachya. Prefers wet to medium soil and full to partial sun. Blooms July-August and grows up to 4’ tall. Each plant will have one dense stalk that blooms from the top down. There are a few records in the Arrowhead region, but it’s largely found south and west of the Mississippi.
